Sourcetree is failing to connect to bitbucket with SSH keys, seems like an issue with pageant. After disable of SSH everything is OK. Same account and configuration is OK in Win7.

Scenario 1:
On MacOS X Sierra when setting up SourceTree for first time and choosing 'SSH' as the authentication method, SourceTree:
From Tools, select Create or Import SSH Keys. From the PuTTY Key Generator dialog, click the Generate button. As the SSH key generates, hover your mouse over the blank area in the dialog. It may take a minute or two. When SSH key generation is complete, you see the public key and a few other fields. The location of idrsa for the purposes of actually performing authentication is actually the domain of ssh (OpenSSH in this case - I assume you're talking about the Mac version). The default key location is /.ssh/idrsa. SourceTree doesn't actually specify the location of the key, it's just derived from OpenSSH's own defaults.

- Thanks Steve. I have finally got my head around this now and realise that git and source tree are just calling open ssh. I tried the /.ssh/config file to set the key that is used for this but what was actually confusing me was that when I added my key to the gitolite configuration it was called idrsa.pub from which gitolite created a user called idrsa.
- Is it possible to remove a particular host key from SSH's knownhosts file? I usually end up deleting the entire knownhosts file, which I have no problems with doing, but just out of curiosity, is it possible to remove just a single entry? I opened the knownhosts file, but I am struggling to understand its contents. Below is the message I faced, which led me to ask this question.
- Should not have a URL for the Bitbucket server, should be a hostname without the https://
- Should not need a 'password'
- Generate SSH Key button is greyed out
- User can skip setup and perform this step manually through the Remote Repository Browser's 'Add Account' function
Scenario 2
On MacOS X Sierra when using the 'Add Account' function the experience when selecting SSH as the authentication method is:
- URL is asked for, should be a hostname
- Password is not needed
- User should be able to select an existing ssh key on their system
- Generate Key button is visible and clickable, when clicked, process continues, but no key is generated and a 'Tooltip' is displayed when account is saved indicating no SSH key
- When editing the account, and selecting 'Generate Key' it now works (but generates a public/private key with a 'space' in the filename (e.g. mwilde_Bitbucket Server.pub)
After putting my public key in my account on Bitbucket and trying to clone, errors are related to what is in the '.ssh/config' file this occurs.
- No hostname is in the '.ssh/config' file (edited by SourceTree) causing a failure on clone
- When hostname is added, errors occur due to 'space' in filename
- When '.ssh/config' is edited removing spaces and subsequently renaming the private key to match the reference in the '.ssh/config' file
After 'fixing' all of these issues, cloning only works thru the CLI, or via a 'Clone in SourceTree' link up in Bitbucket Server. Cloning does not work through the remote repository browser.
